Care packages from role models
I’m moving like Tigger just thinking about Quarterly Co. You purchase a subscription to receive a surprise object in the post from a particular interesting person of choice - such as Tina Roth Eisenberg, or Scott Belsky. (The sort of people who tempt me to indulge in exclamatory punctuation.) The concept is like a magazine, but you get curated goodies in the mailbox instead for $25 per...

Kairos and Chronos
Mentioned to me yesterday, so I just clarified per Wikipedia: “The ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While the former refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time in between, a moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens… the right or opportune moment.”

one response to SlutWalk
“Western feminism, despite its undeniable achievements, still perpetuates the image of a white woman as the liberated one. If these feminists do claim to represent all women, they need to understand the dynamics of the cultures other women hail from. Don’t care if you’re wearing a thong or burka, no one has the right to rape you. Burka clad brown Muslim women get raped too. Represent us. I...

schizophonia
The situation of listening to sounds & voices unrelated to your visual surrounds. e.g. popping in your iPod earbuds. (If you do listen to an iPod, it is recommended to invest in high-quality external earphones, that do not require cranking the volume so high. Experts predict we are nurturing a hearing-impaired generation.)
